California Wildfire Closes Big Sur State Parks

Two major wildfires in California are causing evacuations and closures as firefighters battle the blazes.

Officials closed state parks along the Big Sur coast on Tuesday, destinations that attract an average 7,500 people every day.

The closures include Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Andrew Molera State Park, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Point Sur lighthouse park, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, and Garrapata State Park, according to the Associated Press.

As of Tuesday morning, a 30-square-mile wildfire near Big Sur was 10 percent contained. About 300 residents have been evacuated.

Meanwhile, another fire north of Los Angelesthe Sand Firehas grown to 58 square miles. That fire is 25 percent contained, according to officials.
