California’s most searched Enneagram personality type may surprise you
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/ KUSI) — Have you taken the Enneagram personality type test? There appears to be a specific type that’s more dominant in California.
What is the Enneagram?
As described by Integrative Enneagram Solutions, it’s an archetypal framework consisting of nine types that offer “in-depth insight to individuals, groups, and collectives.” Put simply, it’s a model that looks into people’s core driving motivations as a way to better understand human behavior.
“At its core, the Enneagram helps us to see ourselves at a deeper, more objective level and can be of invaluable assistance on our path to self-knowledge,” stated the Enneagram Institute, which provides the test for those interested.

The Enneagram is made up of nine different types. Here’s a look at each one with some describing character traits:
1. The Reformer
The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic
2. The Helper
The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive
3. The Achiever
The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious
4. The Individualist
The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental
5. The Investigator
The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated
6. The Loyalist
The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious
7. The Enthusiast
The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered
8. The Challenger
The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational
9. The Peacemaker
The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent

Most searched Enneagram personality types by state
Certain Enneagram personality types appear to be more prevalent in particular states across the U.S. On the contrary, some types appear to be less common.
According to Google Trends data between March 13, 2023 and March 12, 2024, the most searched type nationally is The Challenger (No. 8). This was most searched in places like California, Texas, Washington, Colorado, Florida, among several other states.
The second most searched Enneagram personality type in the country, according to this same data, was The Peacemaker (No. 9). This was most popular in Utah, North Dakota, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Rhode Island to name a few.
The Achiever (No. 4) was the third most searched in the U.S. with places like Alaska, Oregon, Nevada, New York, and Maine showing more curiosity about information related to this personality type.
As far as the least searched, Google Trends data showed only one state searched personality type No. 5 — The Investigator — the most. It was South Dakotans.
