SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Californians have a new way to access mental and behavioral health services.

On Wednesday, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the launch of a new website that allows people to connect with crisis services, counseling and treatment, real-time support and other resources. The website, mentalhealth.ca.gov, is meant to be a one-stop shop with information for anyone seeking mental health support, ranging from children and parents to veterans and older adults.

According to the governor’s office, the website will continue to be updated with ways for people to see how their county compares to others in the state. It also includes details about Proposition 1, also known as the Behavioral Health Services Program and Bond Measure.

Californians had the opportunity to vote on Proposition 1 in the March election, which aims to increase the number of mental health and addiction treatment facilities across the state. It narrowly passed, with 50.2% in approval of the measure and 49.8% of voters saying “no.”

Applications for proposed treatment sites are expected to open sometime this summer. You can find a full timeline for the implementation of Proposition 1 here.

The new website will be gathering community data from all counties to track progress, with a goal for the new comprehensive behavioral health plans to take effect in July 2026.
