Calcasieu Parish investigating hit-and-run at Sulphur gas station
UPDATE, 5/14/24, 8:30 a.m.: The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the driver of the truck has made contact with detectives.
ORIGINAL STORY: LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) — The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for help investigating a hit and run that occurred last week.
Authorities said a truck hauling a piece of heavy equipment hit part of a convenience store located on La. 27 in Sulphur and drove away.
Detectives were advised a truck pulled out from under the canopy located over the gas pumps at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at which time a tractor on the trailer behind the truck hit the canopy and caused extensive damages.
The truck, described as a white Ford single-cab one-ton flatbed dually, was pulling a red flatbed gooseneck trailer with a yellow front end loader with a backhoe attachment. The truck left the store and headed north on La. 27.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives attempted to locate the suspect’s truck but were unsuccessful. They are asking anyone who can identify the truck seen in the photo, or anyone with information related to the case, to contact CPSO at (337) 491-3605.
