‘BYOB Bandit’ wanted in 4 Denver bank robberies

DENVER (KDVR) — The FBI and Denver police need help identifying a man who allegedly robbed four banks in May alone.

Investigators have dubbed the suspect the “BYOB Bandit” because he brings a different bag to each robbery.

The timeline of the alleged robberies is as follows:

  • Wednesday, May 1 – At 3:10 p.m. at the Chase Bank located at 6160 E. Colfax Ave.

  • Wednesday, May 8 – At 3:50 p.m. at the UMB Bank located at 3515 N. Quebec St.

  • Friday, May 17 – At 3:40 p.m. at the Chase Bank located at 6160 E. Colfax Ave.

  • Wednesday, May 22 – At 12:40 p.m. at the UMB Bank located at 1635 E. Colfax Ave.

The suspect is described as:

  • Black male

  • Between 5 feet, 9 inches and 6 feet tall

  • Medium build

  • 40-55 years old

  • Has a gray beard/facial hair

Law enforcement is asking the public to look out for anyone matching these descriptors and to be aware of anyone who might have recently changed their spending habits or quickly came into money.

According to the FBI, bank robbery convictions are punishable by up to 20 years in prison for each offense.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324) or the tips website. Tipsters can also remain anonymous and report to the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. A $2,000 award is being offered for information that leads to a conviction.
