Burnside Elementary receives money from Jingle Bell Run

Apr. 25—Burnside Tourism awarded Burnside Elementary School with the proceeds from the Second Annual Jingle Bell Run that was held December 15, 2023, part of the Lake Cumberland Run/Walk Series powered by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

The Jingle Bell Run is a fun and festive 5K walk/run through the Christmas Island light displays, offering a unique, nighttime course for casual and competitive participants to enjoy during the holiday season. Each year, proceeds from the event are assigned to a scholarship fund to serve local causes (youth sports in 2022 and Burnside Elementary School programs in 2023).

Burnside Tourism reported over 200 registrants for the latest run, and a total of $4,660.70 raised for the scholarship fund this year. Burnside Elementary School Principal April Mounce said that the money generated by the 5K will be used to fund multiple programs within the school, such as their drama department, Burnside Bots Robotics Team, and other youth/family services items.
