Burn permits required as of May 1

Apr. 25—All hazard reduction burning will require a burn permit as of May 1 in Yuba, Nevada, Sierra, and Placer counties, Cal Fire officials announced Thursday.

Burn permits must now be obtained online at burnpermit.fire.ca.gov. When applying for a burn permit, applicants must view an informational video in order to conduct burns safely while minimizing fire escape.

Permits must be in possession either by printed or digital copy. They are valid beginning May 1 each year and must be renewed annually, officials said.

Property owners conducting hazard reduction burning are responsible for checking the

burn day status each day. Residents who wish to burn must verify if it is a permissive burn day by contacting their local air quality management district.
