Bullard residents clean up two days of storm damage

BULLARD, Texas (KETK) – In Bullard’s Shell Shore subdivision, people are assessing their damage and cleaning up everything they can, but the hot weather is making it a challenge.

“The humidity is horrible, the whole house inside, we have no power, obviously, floors are wet, window blinds were dripping water this morning just from being so muggy,” Bullard resident Amanda Haney said.

Residents told KETK that trees are down, limbs are scattered across their lawns, and there is no power to their homes.

“We were without power from the time the storm knocked it out until 4:18 a.m. this morning, and we lost all our food,” Bullard resident Amber Decker said.

Haney and Decker both live in Shell Shore and said they’ve been blown away at all the help they have received.

“I’m glad we have a neighborhood that works together and they’re helping each other out,” Decker said.

Not only are their neighbors stopping by, but strangers have been offering water, food and help. Haney said her family has also traveled to Bullard to help in the process.

“You know my brother-in-law’s here, he drove from Red Oak, he drove from Red Oak yesterday, he went home last night, he drove back in this morning, we’ve got a family friend coming in from Troup who has come in two days in a row now to help us,” Haney said.

These days can be made a little less difficult thanks to the kindness of others.
