Buffalo man admits to possession of child pornography in connection with blackmail

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday that a Buffalo man plead guilty to cyberstalking and possession of child pornography after blackmailing a 15-year-old victim.

In January 2021, 25-year-old Raymond Brooks contacted a young girl on Snapchat and persuaded her to send him sexually explicit images of herself. He then blackmailed the 15-year-old into sending more images and videos, claiming that he would release the existing ones to the public if she didn’t.

Brooks had already been convicted of possessing a sexual performance by a child in January 2019. Additionally, law enforcement had found images of minors performing “violent” sexual conduct in his cell phone in 2020.

Books will receive between 10 and 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in October.
