Bucknell University whistleblower lawsuit settled

Mar. 22—LEWISBURG — A lawsuit filed in 2022 by a former public safety officer at Bucknell University is settled.

Attorney Scott M. Pollins, of Wayne, filed a one-sentence brief on March 1 to the prothonotary's office in Union County Court. Pollins represents former public safety officer, Colby Snook, who alleged former Bucknell Police Chief Steve Barilar allowed evidence to be deleted pertaining to a male student who took inappropriate video of a female student.

"Please mark the above action settled, discontinued, and ended with prejudice," Pollins wrote. No other details were provided.

Union County Judge Michael Piecuch on March 5 ordered the case management order, filed in January 2023, to be vacated. The case management order outlined the timeframe for a pre-trial conference and trial in 2024.

In Pennsylvania, a whistleblower is defined as a person who witnesses or has evidence of wrongdoing or waste while employed and who makes a good-faith report of the wrongdoing or waste, verbally or in writing, to the employee's superiors, an agent of the employer or to any other appropriate authority.
