TMZ Has Waded into Britney Spears’s Child-Support Dispute

Kevin Federline needs more money, allegedly, because Britney is so successful these days.

Kevin Federline, the backup dancer, former husband to Britney Spears, and tabloid fixture of the early aughts, is back on TMZ. Federline, who shares custody with Spears of their two adolescent sons, has ended up in a dispute over child support with his ex-wife’s father, Jamie Spears. That is, at least, according to “sources connected to Britney,” who have now brought TMZ into the fight.

According to the sources, who seem very up to date on the situation, Federline’s lawyer, whom the Blast named as Mark Vincent Kaplan, has asked for more child-support money. TMZ says Federline’s argument is that Spears can bring in more money than he can with her successful Vegas shows. Spears reportedly gave Federline a check for over $1 million and has been paying him child support since; TMZ says he gets $20,000 a month.

What the story doesn’t get is a comment from Federline, which seems fairly useful in what is reportedly a two-sided spat. Federline, who has been married to Victoria Prince since 2013 and shares two daughters with her, mostly seems to work as a D.J. now. Per the Blast’s initial report in February, Spears has reportedly made $15 million a year with her Vegas shows, where she will re-up her residency in 2019. In 2015, TMZ reported that Federline was making $1,000 for a D.J. set. (Federline’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)

There’s a lot missing from this Spears drama, which has been dragging on, according to tabloid time stamps, since late February. Or, depending on how broadly you want to define things, since Spears and Federline’s 2004 wedding.
