Britain's Got Talent has announced a new spin-off show that will air alongside the new series.

BGT Reacts will be broadcast on ITVX, and sees popular content creators and celebrities reacting to some of the most entertaining auditions from the show.

Six 15-minute episodes will drop on the platform in total, straight after the main show has aired on ITV1 each week.

The new show was announced in a social media post, which said: "Introducing our brand new spin-off show, BGT Reacts!

"Featuring some of the biggest content creators, much-loved celebrities and legendary BGT acts, it's guaranteed to make you laugh out loud! Watch exclusively on @itvxofficial from 20th April."

In a statement, Kate Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning at ITV, said: "As well as being one of the favourite parts of the series for traditional linear viewers, we know that the auditions generate a huge social footprint online each series.

"We can't wait to amplify this viewer engagement through brand new ITVX series BGT Reacts, working with some of the UK's most successful influencers and content creators – all big fans of Britain's Got Talent."

The talent show previously aired ITV2 spin-off series Britain's Got More Talent, which was hosted by Stephen Mulhern for 12 years. It was axed in 2019.

At that time, a spokesperson for BGT said: "As our 18-34 audience share continues to grow and viewing habits are changing, naturally we are listening to our viewers and focusing more on digital platforms in support of the main show."

The announcement of BGT Reacts comes shortly after it was confirmed that the 17th series of BGT will premiere on Saturday, April 20, at 7.30pm.

Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli will all return to search for the best talent in the country, with the eventual winner receiving £250,000 and a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.

Britain's Got Talent returns to ITV1 and ITVX on April 20, and BGT Reacts will stream on ITVX after the main show.
