Britain’s Got Talent’s Simon Cowell has addressed the future of the show ahead of the new series.
The ITV talent show returns for its 17th series this Saturday (April 20), with Simon and fellow judge Amanda Holden being involved since the very first series back in 2007.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at the press launch for the new series of BGT, Simon revealed that he's confident about the show’s future, predicting that it will be around for years to come.

On the longevity of the show, he said: "I always thought, if we could get three or four years out of this, it would be amazing. Then we reached 10 years and you go, that’s a milestone.
"I think because so many people come from all over the world to compete… it’s not just winning the show, it’s having that viral moment, which can literally change your life overnight, where these clips sometimes get hundreds of millions of views."
He continued: "I think that’s why people are going to come back year after year after year, and hopefully keep competing and get better. Because that’s what I’m seeing, is that the acts are actually, thank god, getting better. And because the show is [for] all ages… I think it’s going to be here for a long, long time."

Simon also spoke about how the show has changed over the years and shared he feels BGT is now more global than ever in terms of the talent it attracts.
"For me, first of all, I like being surprised," he said. "Secondly, you want [the acts] to be great. And third, you don’t want a worse version of what you’ve seen before, because then it’s just boring.
"And I think this show has evolved now, where you’ve got acts coming from all over the world to compete, so I think that makes it more exciting, with British acts competing with acts from all over the world. Because that’s real life, you go on YouTube now and that’s what it is, it’s acts from all over the world. So that’s why I really enjoyed this series."
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV1 and ITVX on Saturday, April 20 at 7.30pm, and Sunday, April 21 at 7.40pm.
