Bridge washes away on video as mayor warns of floods

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (WJW) – Pictures spoke louder than words in a mayor’s storm warning.

On Tuesday, April 30, Gisele Caumo, mayor of Santa Tereza in Rio de Janeiro, was warning residents about the flooding dangers in a video, when the raging waters carried away a concrete bridge.

At the end of the video the bridge is gone.

More than 70 cities in Rio Grande do Sul have suffered damage from the storms, according to local news reports.

According to those local reports, 8 people have died in the storms. 21 are missing.
