Brides fill Goodwill Annual Bridal Pop-Up in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Local brides looking for deals were in luck with the Goodwill Annual Bridal Pop-Up in Charlotte on Saturday.

Lines wrapped around the building as brides-to-be waited to get inside on March 2.

The pop-up features bridal gowns and wedding party dresses at a much lower price than the national average. Some of the dresses are brand new with the tags still on them.

“The fact that they even have this opportunity to get these amazing dresses at such a low price is incredible,” shopper Chelsea Simpkins said. “Of course, I want an amazing dress, but I don’t want to spend a fortune for because it’s only going to be one time in my life.”

Wedding dresses at the event are listed at $99 to $999, a significant drop from the typical cost.

“Probably the best reaction we that we get, are from the brides that find dresses,” Colleen Rizzo, the director of regional operations for Goodwill, said. “We usually circle back with them to promote for next with people who found dresses the year before, and we highlight their stories and how they came here. We have people coming as far as Maryland and West Virginia to come to this event. We really created a following for it.”

Goodwill says the revenue generated from this event goes towards providing career training, job placement and family stability services to people in our community for free.

“I’m very surprised at the prices,” shopper Cynthia Pettyjohn said. “Most of the dresses I’ve seen so far have been under $300 so far. I’m really excited about my dream dress on a budget today.”
