Brad Wilson lays out his platform for Senate on Inside Utah Politics

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – This week on Inside Utah Politics, Utah’s Senate race and the Great Salt Lake come into focus.

We continue our series on Utah’s U.S. Senate candidates. Former Utah Speaker of the House Brad Wilson discusses his campaign. He explains why he believes his time as a state lawmaker makes him an ideal candidate for the U.S. Senate. He also makes clear his positions on border security, housing affordability, and water conservation.

We speak with Marcelle Shoop, Executive Director of the Great Salt Lake Water Enhancement Trust. ( Great Salt Lake Watershed Enhancement Trust (gslwatertrust.org))The group, comprised of stakeholders from industry, government and the non-profit sector, released a five-year strategy on saving the Great Salt Lake. We explore the aims of the plan, what it requires and what the group is asking of the Legislature.

Our correspondents in Washington D.C. brings us up to speed on a bill aimed at the popular social media app TikTok. The bill, passed by the House, would require the app’s Chinese parent company to sell the American version of the app or face a nationwide ban. The measure has bipartisan support, but its fate in the Senate is unclear.

Housing issues also come into focus the week. With home prices increasingly keeping buyers out of the market, new federal legislation could give many buyers up to $20,000 toward a down payment. But as we find out, the bill is running into opposition.

On Inside Utah Politics, we aim for civil and informative conversations that help voters understand their choices on the ballot and the issues they face.
