Boycotting Palm Springs' Chick-fil-A is a slippery slope

It is indeed a slippery slope if one uses political/religious views as a guide for allowing a business such as the proposed Chick-fil-A to open in Palm Springs. A business you choose not to support may suffer but how about the opposite situation? Would you want a boycott or ban by others of businesses flying the rainbow flag? Let them come to town. I for one will never patronize them, not simply for their “views," but for the fact that they actually donated money to specifically anti-LGBTQ organizations. That crosses the line for me.

A Las Vegas high-speed rail is coming. Coachella Valley needs its own

Did you know that Brightline is building a high-speed rail line between Rancho Cucamonga and Las Vegas? The trip is expected to take approximately two hours, and trains are scheduled to run every hour between the two locations. It'll be a no-brainer for gamblers and tourists to decide whether to take a two-hour relaxing train trip to the greatest casino in America versus suffering a two to four-hour freeway drive to the Coachella Valley.

The tribe as well as our permanent residents needs to wake up! If we don't have a rail link between the Coachella Valley and Los Angeles, we will most likely experience a serious loss of visitors just as soon as the Brightline high-speed rail is operational. I suggest we act now by demanding the construction of a passenger rail line or an expansion of Metrolink from Rancho Cucamonga to the Coachella Valley.

Kudos to McCallum Theatre’s ‘Open Call’

I would like to congratulate the McCallum Theatre’s “Open Call” for such exciting performances this past weekend. Open Call selects local talent from a large pool of individuals who audition. The participants vary in age from eight to 80. The talent and variety is astounding. If you’ve never attended, I would suggest putting it on your calendar for the coming year. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
