Teen shot near Waterfront Park following Thunder Over Louisville events, LMPD reports

Louisville Metro Police confirmed a juvenile was shot near Waterfront Park Saturday evening, after Thunder Over Louisville events.

LMPD received reports of a possible shooting near Waterfront Park "near the Purple lot," directly under I-65, the department stated on X, formerly known as Twitter.

LMPD, Kentucky State Police and emergency services are on the scene and River Road near downtown has been closed.

LMPD reported a teenage male was shot in the stomach and was being transported to University of Louisville Health.

"Officers arrived quickly on scene along with LMEMS and located a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen," LMPD stated. "The victim was rushed by LMEMS with injuries that are believe to be non-life threatening."

LMPD confirmed the incident occurred after Thunder Over Louisville festivities concluded.

There are no suspects, however, LMPD request that anyone with information call their anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD(5673) or use their online Crime Tip portal.
