Boy shot, killed while spraying graffiti at Lancaster park: LASD

A homicide investigation is underway Tuesday after a boy was found with a fatal gunshot wound in a Lancaster park.

The shooting was reported just after 8:30 p.m. Monday at El Dorado Park in the 44500 block of 5th Street E.

Arriving deputies found the male juvenile suffering from at least one gunshot wound, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released the juvenile’s age, but he was believed to be a teenager, according to unconfirmed reports.

Video from the scene also showed graffiti on a nearby wall, and Sheriff’s Department officials said Tuesday afternoon that the teen victim was believed to be the one who spray-painted it.

At this time, investigators say they cannot confirm if the shooting was gang-related.

No description of a suspect or suspects has been released, but several cars were purportedly seen fleeing the area after three or four gunshots were heard.
