Boy dies in off-road motorcycle accident in northeast Polk County; identity not yet released

A boy was killed in an off-road motorcycle accident Saturday evening in northeastern Polk County, according to a news release from the county sheriff's office.

The initial caller who reported the accident, at 6:22 p.m., said two juveniles were riding motorcycles in an area near the 8300 block of NE 118th Ave., and one had been involved in an accident. The accident occurred just north of NE 118th Ave. and west of the South Skunk River, the release said.

When deputies and medics with the Maxwell Fire Department arrived, they found a juvenile male who had sustained critical injuries, the release said. They attempted lifesaving treatment, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the victim has not been released while the sheriff's office works to notify family members, the news release said.

"This is a very active investigation," the release said, and updates will be sent as they become available.
