Boy, 12, dead after being struck by a vehicle in west Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A 12-year-old boy died Friday morning after what police believe might have been a fatal hit-and-run, according to online police records.

A little after 9 a.m. April 26, police responded to a report of a person down in an alley in the 500 block of North Elder Avenue. When they arrived, they found Monterious Crowe with traumatic injuries. Emergency medical personnel transported the boy to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Marion County Coroner's Office said his injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officials had not released additional details about the crash or whether investigators are searching for suspects or a vehicle at time of publication.
