Both Mississippi competitors on 'Survivor' Season 46 remain in the game. Here's the latest
The Yanu tribe is down to three members after Wednesday's episode of "Survivor," leaving Senatobia native Quintavius "Q" Burdette to face stiff competition in his own tribe against Tiffany Ervin and Kenzie Petty.
The tribe enjoyed its first win of the season in the reward challenge, but that wasn't enough to keep them from losing another player. Yanu voted to send home Bhanu Gopal.
Bhanu shared his personal story growing up impoverished in India raised by a teenage mother and abandoned by his father at an early age, reporter Anthony Robledo said in his USA TODAY story. He became the first person in his family to graduate from high school, earn a graduate degree and move to the U.S. He repeated that he came on "Survivor" to win a million hearts instead of a million dollars wanting to show that anyone could overcome financial barriers.
Burdette, 29, is one of two men from Mississippi competing on the show. French Camp science teacher Hunter McKnight, 28, is competing with the Nami tribe, and earned the nickname "Survivor McGyver" for his keen survival skills.

Yanu sent home David Jelinsky and Jessica Chong in the first two episodes, but was spared from having to send home another player in Week 3, since Nami castaway Randen Montalvo had to leave the island for health reasons.
The show is filmed in Fiji. This year, 18 contestants were divided into three tribes: Yanu, Siga, and Nami. Siga is the only tribe to still have all six members.
Now in its 46th season, "Survivor" airs at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and streams on Paramount+.
