Bond reduced for Elberta woman accused of hit-and-run that injured 8-year-old
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The bond has been reduced for an Elberta woman arrested in connection with a March 18 hit-and-run that seriously injured an 8-year-old.
An Elberta Elementary third-grader was waiting on the bus just before 7 a.m. on Krehling Road when an SUV reportedly hit her and left the scene.
Police identified Katherine Elizabeth Rolek, 33, as the driver and arrested her.
Rolek was in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing and requested a reduction to her $31,000 bond. Prosecutors opposed the bond reduction, but her bond was reduced to $15,000, News 5 has learned.
Rolek is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment and first-degree assault.
A Baldwin County Grand Jury will hear the case.
