WSU continues to investigate late-night bomb threat

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – According to Wichita State University, there was an active bomb threat on campus Thursday night. It has since been cleared, and classes are in session as usual.

In a news release, WSU said that campus police received a call around 10 p.m. indicating the presence of a bomb on campus at Wallace Hall and at the Starbucks on 21st Street.

The Starbucks is a standalone building located off of 21st Street and Oliver. Wallace Hall is a building designated for classrooms and labs.

According to the news release, campus police provided a visual search of both locations and did not find any devices. Teams set up a perimeter and conducted a second search of the scene.

KSN’s Julia Thatcher was on the scene:

The WSU campus community was notified of the threat through the RAVE system and was asked to evacuate and stay away from the buildings until an all-clear was issued, according to WSU.

Police did not believe that the threat was credible.

An all-clear was given to the WSU community at 12:46 a.m. Friday morning.

A spokesperson for the school said investigators have not yet found the source of the bomb call. They are still looking into it.
