WALNUT CREEK, Ohio (WJW) — A Holmes County nursing facility and retirement community was evacuated on Friday morning due to a bomb threat, according to the county sheriff.

The threat came by phone, and was received by a facility worker, according to the release. The call specified a time and date for the detonation but did not say where the bomb was located.

Staff began evacuating both of the buildings before authorities arrived. They remained outside while deputies, firefighters and EMS workers searched the buildings.

Staff members continued to care for the residents while outside. EMS workers examined two of them for “minor medical complaints,” reads the release. The residents later returned to their buildings.

The Holmes County Emergency Management Agency prepared alternate facilities and transportation, should residents need to be relocated, according to the release.

Holmes County sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate.
