Bomb squad says Immanuel High is safe after threat at Reedley school

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A “hoax device” found on campus at Immanuel High in Reedley is being investigated by police after it was discovered inside the school’s chapel.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the device was made to look like a pipe bomb but did not contain any explosives.

The bomb squad with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school Tuesday morning. Officials established that the device was safe.

According to the Reedley Police Department, the suspicious device was found by a faculty member; its discovery prompted the evacuation of students with school administrators and the implementation of a campus-wide lockdown.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Reedley Police Department.

The campus of Immanuel Schools in Reedley has since reopened and normal operations have resumed.
