Body found near pond in north Shelby County identified
UPDATE: According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the man found near the pond has been identified as 47-year-old James Michael Johnson Jr.
Deputies say there is no suspected foul play. However, this is still an ongoing investigation.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Sheriff’s Office detectives are conducting a death investigation after finding a dead body near a pond.
At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Monday, the body of an adult male was found near a large pond in a wooded area.
The body was found in North Shelby County, just northwest of the intersection of Austin Peay and Singleton Parkway.
Shelby County Fire paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
