Blood drives to be held across Southern Tier in March

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WETM) — The American Red Cross is holding blood drives across the Southern Tier this month to maintain its blood supply.

The Red Cross is urging people with all blood types to consider donating blood or platelets to help hospitals have a large enough supply to continue performing lifesaving transfusions. Hospitals have the highest demand for type O blood, which is the most common blood type, but all blood types are always needed.

The Red Cross is giving blood donors thank-you gifts to encourage more people to donate.

Those who donate through March 24 will receive a $10 e-gift card for a pet supply retailer of their choice and be entered to win one of five $3,000 gift cards. Those who donate between March 25 and April 7 will receive an exclusive “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” T-shirt while supplies last.
