Block of flats approved next to Derby pub and GP surgery
A block of flats will be built on one of Derby's busiest roads.
Planning permission has been approved for 14 new apartments to be built on land off Kedleston Road.
The site sits between the Jonty Farmer pub and the Brook Medical Centre.
The company behind the four-storey proposal, Elgie Properties, says the development will be a mix of three and four-bedroom apartments and set back from the road to avoid overlooking nearby properties.
Darley councillor Martin Repton raised concerns to the council over the plans being "overbearing" reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
But planning bosses at Derby City Council say they are happy with the development and the new site as planned can now go ahead.
Planning documents say: "The proposed building is set back from Kedleston Road and will have a soft landscaped buffer zone between the building and the road.
"Setting the building back from the road also means that the adjacent dwellings natural light or views out are not affected."
The developer must send the council a construction management plan before work to build the new building can begin.
