'Black market for anything': 15 cases of motor oil worth $7,500 stolen from Athens Jiffy Lube
Athens-Clarke police are still investigating who might be in possession of 15 boxes of premium motor oil valued at about $7,500.
The oil was discovered missing March 8 at the Jiffy Lube at 3745 Atlanta Highway, according to an Athens-Clarke police report.
The oil was removed from a shed behind the building, but police did not find evidence of forced entry.

Police spokesman Geoff Gilland said Wednesday that a detective assigned to the case is still awaiting security camera footage that may provide leads on who and how the motor oil was stolen.
The motor oil, described as a Platinum brand, was in 15 boxes valued about $500 per box, according to the report.
Gilland said the thief could probably resell the oil.
The detective working the case told him “there is a black market for anything of any value.”
