Bisons going cashless at concessions, with new menu items

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Bisons announced Sahlen Field would be cashless, night games will be earlier, shared an updated menu and more at Tuesday’s “What’s New at the Ballpark” event.

Sahlen Field joins KeyBank Center and Highmark stadium as the sports venue to go cashless, with the exception of their box office. To help with the cashless transition, the team says they added 30% more “payment devices” to assist with purchases.

“We think that will speed up service and help out, the comments we usually get after a homestand is that it took a while to get some food and this will certainly speed up everything that we’re doing through there,” said Anthony Sprague, general manager of the Bisons.

Food options at the ballpark in 2024 will include the classic Sahlen’s hotdog, popcorn and peanuts in addition to the following specialty items:

  • Alexandra’s beef Mini Dumplings with brown gravy

  • Alexandra’s chicken Mini Dumplings with wing sauce and blue cheese

  • Beef Short Rib Skewers

  • BBQ pulled pork nachos

  • Super Weekly nachos (changes weekly)

  • New England crab cake sliders with coleslaw

  • Truffle parmesan potatoe-O’s

  • Ice cream nachos

The Bisons showed priority in bringing a younger audience, making the majority of their night games (not including Friday nights) start at 6:35 p.m, which is a half hour earlier than the original 7:05 p.m. first pitch.

Sprague announced there would be a “Bluey and Bingo” day during the season, bringing kids to the game, with the theme of the kids cartoon show.
