DAYTONA BEACH – More clouds greeted Bike Week visitors early Wednesday on the World’s Most Famous Beach as the 83rd Annual Bike Week rolled toward its closing weekend.

What’s the Bike Week weather forecast for Daytona Beach?

Additional rounds of thunderstorms are expected across all of east Central Florida from the afternoon through the late evening on Wednesday, according to the latest hazardous weather advisory from the National Weather Service.

Some storms could become strong to marginally severe, especially those that form in the late afternoon and evening, capable of frequent cloud to ground lighting, gusty winds to 50 mph and locally damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to one inch, and heavy downpours.

There is also potential for a tornado in storms that form near the coast south of Volusia County and Cape Canaveral, the advisory states.

Looking ahead, thunderstorm chances return to the forecast this weekend with the approach of cold front, according to the advisory.

Wednesday: A 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 78 and nighttime low around 61. Southwest wind of 10-15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday: Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 75 and nighttime low around 60. West northwest wind at 5-10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. No mention of rain.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 77 and nighttime low around 65. East wind of 5-10 mph. Mostly cloudy at night. No mention of rain.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 83 and nighttime low around 65. South southeast wind at 10-15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. At night, a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 76 and nighttime low around 53. West southwest wind 10-15 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
