Bike racks installed in downtown York

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – Some Midstate businesses have new parking spaces, but not for cars.

New bike racks are being installed throughout downtown York.

They’re outside four businesses considered “trail-friendly,” meaning they go out of their way to serve those who use York’s rail trails.

“We already get visitors from all throughout the area, in the region and even some of our counterparts in states as well, that come to York to frequent our trail systems and our state parks as well,” David Gonzalez, Director of Economic Initiative for the York County Economic Alliance, said. “So we’re looking at an opportunity that we can that we can get businesses primed and ready to welcome those users to their businesses.”

The York County Heritage Rail Trail is 21 miles long and runs from York to the Mason-Dixon Line.
