LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– A new poll released this morning shows the presidential race in Michigan is a tie between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Emerson College and The Hill say the poll of a thousand registered voters shows Donald Trump with a slight 45-44 lead over President Biden, but 11% of voters say they are still undecided.

Emerson College Polling says, “When undecided voters are asked which candidate they lean toward, Trump and Biden’s support increases to 50% each.”

Polls also show President Biden holds 39% job approval among Michigan voters, 52% job disapproval, and 9% are neutral. Gov. Whitmer has a good job rating, she currently holds 49% job approval, 42% disapproval, and 10% neutral.

Hypothetically speaking, if Whitmer ran for president, Whitmer would beat Trump for Michigan’s electoral votes: 50% support Whitmer and 45% support Trump.

The attack on the capitol on Jan. 6 has 51% of voters saying Trump does not deserve another chance to run for president, among other things.

Regardless, Michigan’s 15 electoral votes will be critical to whichever candidate wins the White House.

“The poll of 1,000 registered voters took place between March 14 and 18th and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. The people polled were divided almost equally between the parties – with 376 Democrats and 370 Republicans. The rest identified as independents.”
