Bicyclist, pedestrian die in seperate highway collisions

(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol, Stockton responded to two fatal crashes involving non-motorists early Tuesday morning.

Around 3:10 a.m., a man riding a bicycle south on Interstate 5 near Hammer Lane was struck by a vehicle traveling approximately 75 mph.

CHP said the driver pulled over after the collision. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

CHP suspects drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the crash.

Just before 5 a.m., a vehicle going 65 mph struck a woman standing on State Route 120 near Main Street.

According to CHP, the vehicle swerved to avoid the woman but still hit her with his side mirror. The driver said he heard the woman be hit two more times after he pulled over.

CHP said authorities located at least one of the other vehicles they believe to have hit her after the initial collision.
