‘She was an angel:’ Friends remember 21-year-old killed in Bartow crash that left 5 dead

Friends and family paid their respects to the 21-year-old Kennesaw State University student killed in a multi-car accident in Bartow County.

Aimee Odom died when a Kia van struck her SUV along I-75 Sunday evening. Four other people from the same family, also died in the crash.

“She was the most beautiful, happiest, bubbliest little girl,” a tearful Emma Mims told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington.

“She was angel. She loved everybody,” she said.

“I really believe God stepped in and sent me her… I had no friends,” friend Ally Gray explained.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, at around 6 p.m. Sunday evening, the driver of a Kia van left the roadway, crossed the grass median, and landed in the southbound lanes.

The Kia then slammed into a Chevy Tahoe and a Toyota 4Runner, then another car hit both the Kia and the 4Runner.

The coroner’s office identified the driver of the Toyota as 21-year-old Aimee Odom.

Emma Mims told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington that Odom was on her way to Mims’s home for a graduation party, when the crash happened.

She rushed to the accident scene.

“I saw the front of her car and the front of it was not there,” Mims said.

Three people inside the Kia van died at the scene.

They were identified as 43-year-old Dakarai Mason, 35-year-old Erin Mason and 15-year-old Brandon Crawford.

Two young boys also inside the Kia were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Wednesday, doctors took 6-year-old Titus Mason off life support.

He passed away.

Only 5-year-old Noah Mason survived.

“I feel terrible for the one boy that’s still here with us,” Mims said. The crash remains under investigation as two sets of families and friends, grieve the unimaginable loss.

“It is impacting people a lot. I think it is really hard,” Ally Gray told Channel 2′s Audrey Washington.

The community has set up a GoFundMe to help with the effort.
