De Beque community center nears completion

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The town of De Beque is getting close to celebrating the opening of a brand-new community center. The facility will consist of a 7,400 square foot versatile space, accommodating a wide range of activities and events tailored to the needs and interests of the residents.

Mesa County Commissioner Bobbie Daniel tells WesternSlopeNow some of the facilities will include an indoor commercial kitchen, a two-court pickleball area and plenty of room for future expansion.

“We were able to do what we have been doing in De Beque because of our ARPA dollars — that’s the American Rescue Act Plan — and it’s been exciting to be able to contribute those funds throughout Mesa County, and really to these communities that wouldn’t have such infrastructure investment,” Daniel tells WesternSlopeNow. “We really are excited for this vision, really excited for the town of De Beque.”

Daniel says the community center is approximately 95% complete, and ribbon cutting is currently set for June 29.
