Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson in Detroit May 17, 2022 | Ken Coleman

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is set to release a book in early 2025, according to a Wednesday announcement.

In an email to supporters of her 2022 campaign and a post to X, Benson shared she has been writing a novel for the past three years, which relays her account of efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and how readers can channel their fears and frustrations into fighting for themselves and their community.

“In early 2021 I started writing about what I saw, experienced, and lived through as one of the ‘Women from Michigan’ in 2020,” Benson said in an email to supporters. “Turns out I had a lot to write about.”

That’s a reference to the three Democratic women in top executive positions in Michigan — Benson, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel — who all have been criticized by former President Donald Trump, particularly about the 2020 election he lost.

“The Purposeful Warrior: Standing Up For Yourself and Your Country,” will be published through The Open Field, an imprint of Penguin Random House launched by journalist and former California first lady Maria Shriver.

Whitmer is set to come out with her book, “True Gretch,” in July.

Benson has expressed interest in running for governor in 2026 when Whitmer is term-limited.
