Beloved ice cream shop in Rogers forced to close after storms destroy building

ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Damage to a popular malt shop in Rogers is causing it to close down after more than six decades in business.

Susie Q has sold malts and burgers in Rogers for just under 64 years, but now it’s in piles in the parking lot.

Susie Q says the support from the community has helped with shock.

And even in this time of devastation, the staff is still able to crack jokes and keep a positive attitude.

“One of our employees said we have a new open-air concept,” Jeana Miller, a manager at Susie Q, said jokingly.

“It hurts but the customers go by make it feel not so bad because of the love they’re sharing,” Pinkey Edmondson said.

Edmondson has worked at Susie Q for 52 years.

Susie Q says the next step is to rebuild and re-open.
