Every day, more and more people are speaking out about their experiences with sexual harassment and assault. We deeply admire their bravery, but it’s still so shocking and heartbreaking that the list keeps growing. On Friday, December 8th, Bella Thorne revealed that she’s a sexual assault survivor. The actress tweeted the claim in response to another Twitter user.

Sadly, Thorne joins many others who have recently come forward and opened up about their experiences with sexual harassment and assault. On December 7th, Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman posted a letter online to her abuser, former gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar. Last month, over 200 women in the U.S. National Security community signed an open letter on sexual harassment. Cara Delevingne shared an empowering message to fellow victims of sexual harassment. And, as you know, countless women and men have posted #MeToo stories on social media. Thorne is so brave to speak out.

The actress is no stranger to standing up for herself and responding to her online trolls and haters. Last year, there was the guy who tweeted about Thorne not shaving her legs for an event, complete with photos. Then, this past summer, Thorne was the face of a campaign for fitness fashion retailer SIX:02 in support of a movement called #ThankYouHaters.

On Thursday, December 7th, Thorne tweeted this fierce pic of her wearing a purple suit.

The next day, someone replied to the picture with some truly uncalled for words.

Thorne retweeted it, adding an allegation that she was, in fact, molested.

She didn’t give many details, but she did add this.

Many of her fans have been supportive, tweeting heartfelt messages to Thorne.

We are listening.

And we agree.

Thorne was grateful for the support.

We’re thinking of you, Bella, and we commend your willingness to share. You’re an inspiration to so many of us.
