Belicofest 2024: 2-day festival brings Luis R. Conriquez, Junior H to metro Phoenix
The "ultimate Mexican heatwave" is making its way to Arizona with Belicofest, the Regional Mexican music phenomenon that surpasses borders and catapults artists like Luis R. Conriquez, Junior H and more into the U.S. festival route.
Veteran corridos tumbados artists like Gerardo Ortiz will make all their fans sing their infamous bélico tunes, while younger artists like Padrinito Toys — a 17-year-old from Mesa, Arizona — will offer festival-goers their fresh take on the Mexican genre.
Belicofest will be hosted at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler on April 27 and 28, where attendees will enjoy live music, authentic Mexican food from Mexican and regional vendors and a marketplace with local vendors.
Luis R. Conriquez, known as "The king of corridos bélicos", is headlining the event. Conriquez has garnered millions of views on different digital platforms with his singles "JGL" and "Las hazañas del Doble R", related to drug trafficking kingpins of the likes of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.
Also on the lineup is Gerardo Ortiz, from Pasadena, California. While his songs have a huge following, he has been strongly criticized for producing media that promote cartel violence common in Mexico — as is custom for most artists that delve into the corridos tumbados genre.
Samuel Ibarra Aispuro, better known as “Padrinito Toys”, will represent his home state at Belicofest. The 17-year-old Mesa-born influencer and singer resides in Culiacán, Sinaloa. He started making a name for himself in 2022 when he released his first single “Los Collares” as a duet with Óscar Maydon, who is also on the lineup. Fans will get to enjoy other hits like "Aqui andaré," "Fresita en el Insta" and "La Vida Loca."
The program will be hosted by Jailyne Ojeda, model, businesswoman, influencer and OnlyFans star, and Sonoran Kano Escalante, influencer, comedian and singer of Regional Mexican music.
