Beer Pickles Are Our Latest Pickle Obsession
When we embarked on this little pickle journey of ours, we had no idea how many types of pickles there were in the world. Disclaimer: A LOT. After we discovered Whiskey Pickles in Brooklyn, the owner's friend Jason Poole, who owns his own pickle biz, Preservation & co., in California, emailed me about his boozy pickles: Hefeweizen Bread & Butters. We had to investigate.

I've never been a bread & butter fan. I know people love them, but they tend to be syrupy and weirdly sweet. So I went in a skeptic, but boy was I wrong. The new age of picklers are turning out bread & butters that rival the best dills: they use turmeric to get that naturally glowing brine and sometimes no sugar at all, relying on the subtle sweetness of ingredients like beer to do their thing.
We tasted Beer Pickles on their own and on a Cuban sandwich-do both. They're super crunchy with the perfect tang and slight kick from the Hef. Even the most hardcore dill pickle fan will want to get their hands on a jar. Cheers!
