Beckley VA Medical Center hosts a spring “trunk hunt”

BECKLEY WV (WVNS) – The Beckley VA Medical Center held an event Friday afternoon just in time to welcome in Spring.

Dozens of parents and kids lined up in the parking lot to fill up their easter baskets with spring themed goodies.

Vendors were lined up and parked in the parking lot to welcome in the guests.

Kids got the chance to collect easter-themed candies and see not one, but two easter bunnies!

Sara Yoke, Public Affairs Officer with Beckley VA Medical Center, said she got the inspiration after the recent success of their Halloween “Trunk or Treat” event.

“We’re a large part of the community and we do a lot of different things here. We have a full medical center so it’s not just a hospital. We provide a lot of social services, outreach, and things people may not even realize we have here. So this is a great opportunity for that interaction between the public and our staff and our veterans,” Yoke said

Yoke said she’s been promoting the event for months but was a little surprised to see as many people show up. She definitely plans to hold a similar event this October and next Spring.
