Beckley man pleads guilty to federal drug crime

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A Raleigh County man pleaded guilty to a federal drug crime.

24-year-old Davon Jamir Linder, of Beckley, pleaded guilty to distribution of methamphetamine on Monday, May 13, 2024.

According to statements made in court, Linder not only sold a controlled substance that contained methamphetamine to a confidential informant on February 27, 2023 in the Beckley area of Raleigh County, but he also acknowledged his involvement in the sale.

Linder’s sentencing is scheduled for September 13, 2024, and he faces up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of parole, and a $1 million fine.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson, who thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit for their work on the investigation.

The Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit is made up of officers from various law enforcement agencies such as the Beckley Police Department, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and the West Virginia State Police.
