Beautiful Thursday preludes more unsettled weather Friday

Tonight features partly to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping back into the upper 50s. Some patchy instances of fog are possible with a light southwest breeze.

Thursday provides mostly sunny skies with a brief break in the activity weather we’ve seen across the two Virginias – how about that! It’s a pleasant day on the way, with high temperatures in the mid 70s. We’ll drip back into the mid 50s overnight with a slow increase in clouds.

Friday provides another threat for scattered showers and perhaps a rumble or two of thunder, with yet another cold front pushing on through. The front will cross during the late morning hours – that’s a good thing, as that really helps to diminish our severe weather threat! There will be plenty of dry time still, but it’ll be cooler with highs around 70.

Sunday is another nice day, albeit a bit on the cool side, with partly sunny skies and high temperatures below average, as we only climb into the mid 50s. Some patchy frost can’t be ruled out in the sheltered spots in the mountains with morning temperatures in the mid to upper 30s.

We are in spring forest fire season in West Virginia – this means don’t burn between 7 AM and 5 PM through May 31st. Low humidity values during the daytime, along with breezier and warmer conditions will at times increase the fire threat, hence the burn ban during most of the daytime. Follow all regulations or be faced with potential consequences, such as fines! In Virginia, the spring fire season continues through April 30th – don’t burn before 4 PM.
