Beatles tribute show coming to Capitol Civic Centre stage in Manitowoc

MANITOWOC — An interactive Beatles tribute show is coming to the Capitol Civic Centre stage this month.

Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience” will take the stage in Manitowoc March 21 with doors opening at 6 p.m. and performance at 7 p.m. The Capitol is at 913 S. Eighth St.

The band, anchored by brothers Billy, Matthew and Ryan McGuigan, performs as themselves and leaves the song choices in the hands of the audience. This is done through request cards audience members fill out before the show. On those cards, the audience member only needs to fill out three things: their name, their favorite Beatles song and the reason why they chose that song. The cards are collected and two minutes before the show begins, a set list is created based on the songs chosen by the audience. As an added treat, the reasons the audience members chose those songs make up the narrative of the evening.

Tickets start at $29 and a student discount is available. The show is rated PG.

To order tickets, call 920-683-2184 or order online at cccshows.org up to two hours prior to the 7 p.m. showtime.

Free well water nitrate screening offered in Manitowoc County

Manitowoc County Soil and Water Conservation Department is teaming up with Country Visions to offer free well water nitrate screenings the week of March 11-15.

People can take a half cup of well water in a clean bottle to the Manitowoc County Soil and Water Conservation Department, 4319 Expo Drive, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. all week, or at one of two screening sites: Mishicot Country Store, 150 E. Main St., Mishicot, from 1 to 5 p.m. March 11, or Reedsville C-store (Cenex), 525 Main St., Reedsville, from 1 to 5 p.m. March 12.

March 11-15 is Groundwater Awareness Week. Nitrate, a compound of nitrogen and oxygen, naturally occurs at low levels in the environment. It can also enter groundwater at significantly higher concentrations from fertilizers, manure, septic systems, and sewage treatment practices.

Private well owners are encouraged to have water tested each year. Exposure to high nitrate levels in drinking water can be dangerous and it is particularly harmful to infants and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant.

Results of the testing and educational material will be given on site at the screening locations. Those who drop off water samples will receive results by email or phone call by the next business day. Call 920-683-4183 for more details.
