Will Bayou Boogaloo still happen if it storms this weekend?

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo is supposed to return to Bayou St. John for a 17th year this weekend. But what will wet weather and strong winds mean for those who are planning to go?

The three-day event will include live music performances, food vendors, an arts market, a kid’s area, a VIP area, a crawfish eating contest, a baby alligator petting zoo and water activities.

The festival opens on Friday and runs through Sunday, but New Orleans is expecting another round of severe weather Friday night into Saturday.

Festival organizers told WGNO News, “The Boogaloo is a rain-or-shine event, so we’re planning on going forward with the festival as normal. However, the team is closely monitoring the situation and in the event of severe weather, we will temporarily delay the festival for the safety of all on Bayou St. John and resume whenever it is safe to do so.”
