Baton Rouge man arrested recognized as internet star

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The 18-year-old man who was arrested after being accused of shooting at a police officer is known for his popular internet presence.

Mikel Moore, or Life with Mykel on YouTube, is an internet star who began his internet career playing video games such as Spider-Man and Grand Theft Auto V. Moore expanded his content creation to making prank videos and collaborating with other creators, according to his YouTube account.

Moore has gained a social media following of almost three million followers and subscribers between Instagram and YouTube.

Moore was arrested on March 23, after being accused of shooting at a police officer while fleeing. Moore was reportedly in a car with two others when officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department began to investigate suspicious activity nearby. The vehicle left the area as police began to follow. Police say the three jumped out of the vehicle and began to flee on foot.

Officers chased and caught one suspect, Eric Brown, 29. Moore reportedly was running and fired a shot at the officer who was chasing him, missing the officer and striking a victim inside his home. Moore was caught by a K9 unit and was arrested.

Moore was booked on charges of attempted first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Moore was released on a $353,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
