Bataan Intermediate students in Port Clinton raise funds for Mary's Coats for Kids

PORT CLINTON ― Mary's Coats for Kids, which gives new coats to Port Clinton City School District children in need, was created by the Ferdinandsen family in 2006 as a foundation in memory of their mother and wife, Mary Ferdinandsen

Students at Bataan Intermediate recently came together to “Do Great Things for Others” with a coin drive that resulted in a $1,160 donation to the foundation.

The committee included Mike Ferdinandsen; Lynne O’Neal, school counselor; Kim Martin, administrative assistant; Ryan Evarts, assistant principal; and Morgan Siefke, principal.

Port Clinton High School DECA, and adviser Bill Hollister, contributed an additional $250 to Karen Ferdinandsen for the foundation.

The Ferdinandsen family expressed their gratitude to district Treasurer Jeff Dornbush for his assistance along with O'Neal, who helps facilitate the program.
