Barron Trump helps mom Melania carry out first lady holiday tradition
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the White House. Melania Trump had a special helper – her son Barron Trump – as she continued the first lady tradition of receiving the official White House Christmas tree on Monday, November 20. President Donald Trump’s youngest child joined his mother, 47, outside of the presidential residence as they kicked off the holiday season in style.
The Christmas tree from Wisconsin’s Silent Night Evergreens arrived via a horse-drawn carriage while marine band members played O Christmas Tree and other holiday tunes. Melania and Barron both marveled at the size of the massive tree, which will be set up in the White House’s Blue Room.

The Chapman family of Wisconsin, who won a national tree contest, presented the 19.5-foot tall Balsam fir to the first lady and first son. The family has previously provided trees to the White House. "This is a beautiful tree. Thank you so much. We will decorate it very nicely,” Melania told the Chapmans. "I hope you can come and visit with us."

The first lady later tweeted a video from the event along with a message that read: “Thank you Silent Night Evergreens in Wisconsin for our beautiful tree! @POTUS, Barron & I are excited for Christmas in our new home!”

Melania looked holiday ready for the special occasion on Monday wearing a red turtleneck sweater by Ralph Lauren, dark jeans, Victoria Beckham boots and a plaid Calvin Klein coat draped over her shoulders. Meanwhile Barron donned a crisp white button down shirt, trousers and a blazer.

Last week on November 17, the president’s wife tweeted a picture of her desk with images from a White House Christmas booklet. Alongside the picture she penned, “Excited to receive the beautiful tree Monday! #ChristmasTraditions.” Melania recently reflected on her role as first lady during an interview with CNN. "It's my honor to be a first lady of the United States," she shared. "We love to live in Washington, we have a very busy life. It's exciting, as well."
